CASSA Return-to-Training (R2T) Update!

Exciting news - CASSA is ready to train!! Things are not normal as you all know, but we have outlined critical guidelines for you in this email. We ask that you educate yourselves by reviewing this information in detail as well as visiting the MSYSA and GVSA links below.
MSYSA announced a ‘return-to-training’ (R2T) beginning on Friday, June 5, consistent with Governor Whitmer’s June 1 st Executive Order. Parents please print and sign the attached updated Release of Liability waiver for summer training to acknowledge the below rules and guidelines.

- Premier - train year round, plan to utilize Algoma for summer sessions
- Select - currently off season, training not required until August
- Renegade - we had a delay in payment reconciliation but we are still moving forward with this program please sit tight!
Michigan Phase 4 update:
- Training permitted while adhering to social distancing and gathering size limits.
- Players must use their own equipment and items – no sharing of soccer balls or equipment or clothing of any kind. No pennies.
- Avoid any activities that may require direct or indirect contact between athletes.
- While coaching onsite can occur, coaches must maintain social distancing.

Criteria for Athletes & Coaches for Training Sessions:
- No signs or symptoms of COVID-19 in the past 14 days and have no known exposure to someone that has been ill in 14 days.
- Live in Michigan and have not travelled for 14 days prior to beginning training.
- Have no above normal temperature readings; temperature checks should not be conducted by staff but by players and their families prior to attending training.
- Upon arrival to training, coaches or staff should ask each athlete if they are experiencing any signs or symptoms of COVID-19 or if they have had any known exposure to someone who may have been ill. If the athlete has any signs or symptoms of COVID- 19, they should be sent home and instructed to contact their healthcare provider as soon as possible.
- Appropriate infection prevention supplies should be present in multiple targeted areas (e.g., hand sanitizer, facial tissues, facial coverings, etc.).
- Small group training sessions should take place outside in an area where social distancing can be maintained.
- Equipment should be properly sanitized after every training session.
- Participants should use their own water bottle, towel and any other personal hygiene products.
- Avoid any activities that may require direct or indirect contact (e.g. bumping) between athletes.
- Establish a cleaning schedule/protocol for equipment with the proper use of disinfectant before, during, and after training.
- While coaching can occur onsite, coaches must maintain social distancing from all participants.
- Ensure you are healthy, and check your temperature before activities with others.
- Ensure the health and safety of the participants.
- Inquire if the athletes have experienced any ill feelings or COVID-19 symptoms. Send home anyone you believe acts or looksill, and advise them to contact their healthcare provider as soon as possible.
- Follow all state and local health protocols and guidelines.
- Ensure all athletes have their own individual equipment (ball, water, etc).
- Ensure the coach is the only person to handle equipment (e.g. cones); do not enlist parental or attendee assistance.
- All training is recommended to be conducted outdoors and compliant with social distancing per state or local health guidelines
- Have fun, stay positive – players and parents are looking to you for leadership.
- The use of scrimmage jerseys, or pennies, is not recommended at this time.
- Prior to training check your child temperature and refrain from participation if he or she has a fever (≥100.4 degrees F).
- If your child currently has any of the symptoms consistent with COVID-19 including coughing, sore throat, shortness of breath OR fever of 100 degrees OR sudden loss of taste or smell the child cannot participate in soccer activities until cleared by a medical professional.
- Stay in or near your car and/or adhere to social distance requirements, based on state and local health requirements.
- Ensure your child’s equipment, (cleats, ball, shin guards, etc.) are sanitized before and after every training.
- Notify the club immediately if your child becomes ill for any reason.
- Supply your child with hand sanitizer for each training session.
- Parents make the ultimate decision on their child's attendance participation
- Wash hands thoroughly before and after training.
- Bring and use hand sanitizer at every training.
- When you arrive go straight to your training field.
- Bring your ball and water bottle to the field.
- Do not touch or share anyone else’s equipment, water, snack, or bag.
- Practice social distancing, by placing your equipment, ball and water bottle aside your training space, keeping 6 ft from others.
- Maintain physical distance from your teammates (air high fives are awesome but no high 5’s, hugs, handshake, piggy backs etc.)
- At the end of training return to your parent/guardian immediately.
- It is recommended that players wear masks before and after all training sessions. This protects others if you are unknowingly carrying the virus.
